for 30 bucks more than the V-type I can say the Avatar blows the V-type away and regret wasting my money on the V-type in hind sight. I recently bought an Avatar M65 (made by Fane) for $129 shipped. Used market it is a fair deal as they do not hold value, you could pick up for 50 bucks on ebay. I do not think the V type is worth 99 bucks new to be honest. #Celestion v type upgrade#The G12 V-Type is an affordable and excellent upgrade for any speaker. to me the bass was a little pokey and flat in the closed back cab. From a crisp clean tone to all out screaming rock. The Vintage 30 has a tight and responsive note definition, with masses of volume and sustain. It is a modern guitar loudspeakers designed to handle high output with vintage tone and style preserving the tonal characteristics of vintage speakers. I originally bought the V-type for my Katana 50 as an upgrade from the stock Roland speaker, I do think the V-type is better than the stock Roland, the Kat50 is an open back cab and I think the V-type is better suited in open back cabs from my limited experience. The Celestion Vintage 30 has become the biggest selling rock guitar speaker in the world. Crank up your amp for sizzling overdrive, with plenty of mid-band warmth to give substance to lead note playing. it did sound different than the seventy-80, but to say better or worst its a tough call, just different frequencies, 70-80 a little more open low end while the v type seemed tighter in the bass frequencies and more green back inspired mid's. To me it didn't sound much better than the Celestion Seventy-80 G12P that came with an extension cab I currently have (Hot rod deluxe closed back 1x12 ). The V-Type produces an exciting, modern vintage electric guitar sound thats described as airy and open, while delivering a formidable low end. The Vintage 30 sounded a bit bassier, but the V-Type sounder better clean. Both 12 inchers were an improvement from the smaller 10in OEM. Celestion G-12 Neo V-Type 12 inch 70-watt Guitar Speaker - 8 Ohm 12', 70W, 8-ohm Guitar Speaker 165.00 ( 3) Celestion G12 V-Type 12 inch 70-watt Replacement Guitar Speaker - 8 Ohm 12' Guitar Speaker, 70W, 8 Ohms, 70Hz-5kHz T5901 109.00 Demo available for 98. I had the V type for about 8 months and recently parted ways with it. Today, I tried my ENGL Gig Master 15 fitted with a 8Ohm Celestion G10N-40 speaker, and connected it to the V-Type and Vintage 30 separately to compare all three speakers.
